TP-Link routers

VPN Client with an .ovpn file.

Many TP-Link Archer routers and Deco systems include a VPN Client that accepts OpenVPN files. Check that your model has Advanced → VPN Client.

What you need

  • A TP-Link router with the VPN Client feature (recent Archer firmware)

  1. Get your OpenVPN file

    On realvpn.io/settings choose OpenVPN UDP, a location and New manual device, then press Generate config. RealVPN.ovpn is saved to your Downloads.

  2. Add the VPN server

    Go to tplinkwifi.net → Advanced → VPN Client. Enable VPN Client, then under Server List click + Add.

  3. Choose devices

    Under Device List click + Add and select the devices that should use RealVPN. Save and make sure the server is Enabled.

On Deco, open the Deco app → More → Advanced → VPN Client; the steps are the same.
